From fallen Western Australian timber to a finished pen.
Every piece of timber has a story
At Wollstein Creations, each pen begins with a fallen piece of Western Australian timber.
Rather than allowing that timber to go to waste, we collect suitable branches and transform them into handcrafted pens and mechanical pencils that retain the grain, colour and character of the original wood.
No two pieces of timber are exactly alike, so no two finished pens are either.
From fallen branch to finished pen
Each piece is prepared, shaped and turned by hand before being carefully sanded, finished and assembled.
Natural tung oil and lavender wax are used to protect the timber while preserving its colour and grain.
The process is deliberately hands-on, with each piece worked individually rather than produced in large batches.
Using what already exists
Our timber is sourced from naturally fallen branches wherever possible, giving material that might otherwise be discarded a new purpose.
The same approach continues throughout the workshop. Sawdust is reused where practical, used sandpaper can be repurposed into handmade cardboard, and offcuts and other materials are reused rather than thrown away where possible.
Packaging also follows the same principle, with recycled and reusable options available.
The aim is simple: make something useful and long-lasting from material that already exists.
